A History of Mathematics
12.6. A man must know his own profession. This is one of the best and most comprehensive studies on the subject matter, relatively easy to read and gives a clear picture of many niche areas of mathematical science.

Tarzan
13.6. Some may disagree, but this film is a work of visual poetry. I didn't understand it at first back in the day, but now it's clear as a crystal, I can see what they were going for. For example, Clayton is an embodiment of typical idealistic old-school adventure hero who's in for fighting the beast and savages alike for the sake of what he believes to be right, but as an ironic turn he only brings the savagery with him. He is thus no different than the leopard seen before, just a beast in man's clothing. Since the story is all about the relationship of man and nature, he is quite ironically the biggest antagonist of the story despite his true beastly nature and at the end he only succumbs into his own bloodlust despite being warned by Tarzan. Man can thus be the most dangerous and most emphatic animal of all, not just towards the nature but towards himself and other people. It's a jing-jang thing, free will and stuff.

Brother Bear
12.6. If Lilo & Stitch was supposed to be a cheaper Disney film, then this cost only half of it. And most of that sum must have gone to the actors and visual artists alone, since the story is kinda lame. According to the writers this was originally supposed to be King Lear with bears, similar to what Lion King had done to Hamlet, but the screenplay went through multiple changes and they had to settle on this little messy thing.

Lilo & Stitch
12.6. This film was originally designed to be a cheaper and more simple Disney flick, and maybe that's the reason it has so much charming personality and balls to get rid of all the usual Disney cliches. It is very lighthearted and fun, but very unique and well made.

Invincible
8.6. One boring summer day and nothing to do, so I had to binge watch this thing right away. And boy, is it good! It's basically a love letter to every classic superhero comic book story ever, but because this is all new they didn't have any burden of history to keep the drama down. The end result is class A action drama with blood and gore, world-class actors and animation. This might be the best new animated series of 2021.

On Bullshit
8.6. This one's a must-read just for the curiosity's sake. It's a philosophical essay on the nature of bullshit. Yeah.

Power Mad! A Book of Deranged Dictators
8.6. Anecdotal funny stories about famous dictators. Nothing deeper, but offers few laughs.

Duckman: Private Dick/Family Man
7.6. Before South Park there was Duckman, a sex addict duck and asshole who screws everyone around him and gets away with it. The show is as edgy and 90's as they come, the humor is extremely mean and cynical, but very high quality. In 70 or so episodes they pretty much broke every rule possible, pushed every boundary imaginable and at the final episode gave the audience a big middle finger, which also sparked a crapload of speculation and stupid fantheories.

Hercules
5.6. This film is a glorious mess of pretty much everything imaginable. Originally the leading men behind Hercules had another project (Treasure Planet) in mind, but they had to settle on this for business reasons. The end result turned out to be a musical parody of superhero films and dumb celebrity culture with art design by Gerald Scarfe from Pink Floyd: The Wall. There's direct references to likes of Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan, who were worshipped like gods back in the day. I honestly miss the time Disney still used to experiment with actual visual design instead of just recycling all their character models like they do nowadays.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire
5.6. The art and sound design, characters and the humor of this film are great, but the narrative sucks hard. The very first scene they just throw this whole thing at you and there's literally no mystery or excitement in the whole thing until the last 20 minutes. The story itself is full of massive plotholes and goofs that don't make any sense, like there just happens to be a massive navy ready to go to some expedition, the Atlanteans can just talk and understand any language they want etc.

The Open Society and Its Enemies
4.6. A classic of political philosophy. This was a third time I read this thing, I still got much out of it.
