The first half is about two Indian brothers and their childhood in poor parts of India, revolutionary politics etc. other good stuff. At one point the thing just completely falls apart and it's a chore to read til the end, nothing interesting happens. You'll know when you read it.

I have serious trouble rating this film. On the other hand it's very spot on and funny, but on the other hand it lacks many of the strong points of the first film, like kickass soundtrack and well written side characters. I don't know, but I wish many more people would watch this just so they could experience some real fun time like we did back in the 90's.

Utterly pointless novel about nothing at all. The premise is supposed to be a kind of mystery novel, but at the end of the day there's nothing interesting going on and the mystery is quickly forgotten after few pages.
If it wasn't for the playful language this could've been complete waste of my time.

I don't get it. Nearly every time I start reading one of Auster's novels, I get hyped and expect something extraordinarily great but ultimately get disappointed. These novels are so overhyped it's not even funny, out of gazillion I've only really enjoyed maybe two of them, which were indeed great.

Kalervo Palsa was something of an eccentric and radical artist whose grand obsession was painting surreal, grotesque and pornographic imagery. This book is a collection of his diaries, and even though I have never seen his art, I found this utterly fascinating look at his creative mind. The man was a very deep and introspective thinker and a boheme, so this book is like a must-read list for anybody interested in literary art, people who just want something extraordinary hiqh quality novels to read or curious folk who are interested in creative lunacy.

Way better than I remembered. The plot is about average IQ going down the toilet and the future looking like a farce, but between the lines there's so much more message about the role of a state, corporate corruption, social policies and stuff. The ending is both naive and very ironic, since while they try to make the world better place to live, they only touch the bare surface while the big system remains the same and nothing really changes or ever will.
