Johnny Got His Gun
24.11. A pacifist classic. Fun fact: Luis Buñuel was originally meant to direct this film.

Les Misérables (1934)
21.11. The 30's France was a true powerhouse of classic cinema. Wooden Crosses alone was a massive film, but the five hour long epic of Les Miserables from the same director is even better, possibly the best version of the story ever told on big screen. This is the one definitive Les Miserables you have to see at least once in your lifetime, not the silly Hollywood ones.

Wooden Crosses (1932)
17.11. More or less the same as Verdun, but this time it's more dramatized and story-driven, the stark realism is definitely there. Also, the sound mixing and editing of this film is superb, especially considering the time it was made. A pacifist classic. The next clip has some of the most well made war scenes ever on film. The best part starts around 3 minutes. [youtube id=ExyHHVmhseQ]

Verdun: Looking at History
17.11. A massive war film, a completely forgotten French masterpiece. This film is so realistic parts of it are still used in documentaries depicting the living hell that was Verdun, even some famous war photographs are actually stills from this film. Lots of extras and actors in this were actual war veterans, and they even got Philippe Petain to portray himself.

Halloween Ends
2.11. Utterly incompetent "ending" for a film series that mostly sucked anyway, but not this much. This is the worst one.

Kaljuuden ylistys ja muita ylistyksiä
2.11. A collection of praise and defensive speeches from Ancient to Renaissance era, some are dry as a sand, others passionate and adventurous, the last one being an over the top parody of a speech. A great read.

Mariusz Pudzianowski
Mariusz Pudzianowski has to be one of the most multi-talented men I have ever seen in my lifetime. He's one of the greatest strength athletes of all time, but he's also a great martial artist, a successful businessman and a gifted entertainer. This wholesome beast of a man just keeps on giving and I find his career and persona highly inspiring. I wish there were more good men like him in this world. If Tony Halme hadn't ruined himself with all the drugs and alcohol he could've been something like Mariusz.
