Jim was something of an oddball genius of popular music: on the other hand he was a megalomaniac with brilliant ear for catchy melodies, but at the same time everything he did had this sense of over the top cartoony self-irony that made you either love him or hate him. I did love his music and still do. Sadly, though, the man couldn't really sing, so he was mainly a songwriter, producer and a pianist for other artists. [youtube id=lcOxhH8N3Bo]

Bucky O
19.12. I think Bucky O'Hare is an overrated show among retro fans. Yes, it's your very typical Star Wars -inspired furry show from the early 90's, but that's it. Some of the characters (not the annoying human kid) are slightly memorable and the cynical humor is on the money, but the character animation itself is at times very bad.

Doña Barbara
18.12. A legendary novel that turned out to be surprisingly superficial and boring. Maybe it's just historically significant and not that great to begin with, I think.

South Park: Post COVID - The Return of COVID
16.12. Slightly better than the first one, but still no cookie. Cartman's redemption arc was the closest thing this ever got to being good.

I just love this thing, but damn is it hard. Like seriously, it's Konami hard. But it's sooooooooo much fun so I'll probably just keep on trying.

Chill Out
Like the title says: it's all about chilling out and having some good time. In other words it's a kinda concept album about a car trip from one place to another with lots and lots and LOTS of sampling and imaginative soundscapes.

15.12. The idea is interesting, but at the end of the day nothing really happens.

Peter Pan and the Pirates
13.12. This show is so damn good. It's like they took the original concept and explored the hell out of it while still staying true to the naive adventurous tone of the book. This reminds me of Lunar games which captured the same essence, possibly influenced by either this or the original source. Too bad Peter Pan was so much ahead of its time and the cartoon craze of the 90's hadn't really caught on when this was new. As far as I know the only ways to watch this thing these days are some crappy bootlegs and single episodes released on DVD. Oh, and this was animated by multiple studios, so the quality between individual episodes can differ from awesome to terrible. I'd much rather watch sincere, funny and high quality stuff like this than most new films these days.
