7.11. One of the best death metal albums in existence, even if the lyrics are very dumb just like most things Deicide and Glen Benton have ever put out. Also, I'm not a huge fan of late Benton's vocals. Back in his heyday he did all kinds of creative and non-standard voices before settling on standard growling.

Manfred von Richthofen aka Red Baron was a rock star of his day. Not only was he a victorious pilot ace, but he was also regarded very handsome and charismatic in a boyish way - and he loved animals. Originally he came from a family of horsemen, but after cavalry was deemed unusable during the early days of WW1, he switched to the air force. At the end Baron was shot in the heart, but he managed to fly safely to the ground before dying. Here's a short video of a Red Baron, his best friend Moritz and a funny family portrait of dogs. Ernst Jünger was a novelist, radical and revolutionary who fought in WW1 and later went on to fight for his romanticized militarist ideals in practice. Jünger was a kind of man who was completely suckered in by war and unlike many others felt it was the best thing in his life. In his mind militarism and nationalism weren't about black and white, robbing and terrorizing the innocent or random killing and hate, but about higher ethics, brotherhood and honour. Later during WW2 Jüng ended up facing the reality of the death of his ideals and go full pacifist. Honestly speaking, I love at least some parts of Jüngs ideas. He was all about extreme masculinity, and as far as I'm concerned, his dislike of comfort, safety and modern liberal values are on point. I don't think there's anything toxic about this shit, except for the questionable authoritarian dictatorship part. That sucks. But you have to remember the context, since this was after they lost the war and were forced by the enemy to adopt this new unstable system after a long history of aristocratic and monarchistic rule their whole moral system and worldview were based on at the time.

30.10. This film is utter shitshow and it makes me laugh out loud every time I see it. They tried to make these historical figures look and sound as over the top and insane as possible. Hitler barely has any other emotion than just hate, and he's just crazy. Everything here feels so oversimplified, like there's no story or history behind anything that happens, things just happen because Hitler is evil and he's rising and he's very angry and he hates everything and everyone. In reality there's a huge and complicated history behind this thing that is still widely discussed among historians. The things that happened during the era and the way people thought had at least decades of complicated history behind them, not just political but also esoteric, neo-paganic and spiritual thinking. That's why they used swastika as their symbol.
