Godbluff
7.2. One of my all time favourite record got listened once again, and this shit still is one of the best ever. It's bleak and dreamy, but smart, well written and full of nice little details. The mix of organ and saxophone sounds awesome still to this day. A phenomenal album, most bands couldn't even dream of creating something this enormous.

5.2. I think Isaac Babel is way more interesting once you read his life story. He was imprisoned and executed during the Great Terror of Stalin.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
5.2. I don't think this is straight up 5/5 film, but I had so much fun with it I don't even care. The story is essentially about this funny animal character, that is Puss in Boots, realizing he will someday eventually die and the inner conflict that comes with it. So naturally it's a story about friendship and overcoming the fear of death, and that is a great idea for a film. The humor is naturally very macabre, like there's this Jack Horner who just goes on killing people and animals for fun, even when the character dies he's so over the top narsistic in every way possible that it makes me laugh every time I see it.

Sorretut sanat - Vainottujen neuvostokirjailijoiden jäljillä
4.2. Alright, now this is what daddy wants: more knowledge about underground Soviet literature. All in all, this one's a good informative book about the genre, but could've been even more in-depth. I guess they had to make this marketable, hence more superficial approach.

12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos
3.2. A great book, but very front loaded. I think this helped me to understand better how I beat my own depression, it wasn't just some visible changes I made but there were more minor things happening I didn't even understand were part of the problem until now.

Dostojevski ja todellisuus
2.2. So far the best book about Dostoevsky I have read. This is brilliant, the author is so on point, he went to study the real environment where the books were written and based on, he took pictures, shows maps, interviewed professionals from different fields to get as accurate information as possible... this is a must read for any Finnish fan of Dostoevsky.

Wings of Steel
2.2. This thing is probably the single best metal EP released in 2022, seriously. These guys are talented like crazy, they knew exactly what they were doing. The title song is clearly inspired by groups such as Thundersteel-era Riot, but there's suprising amount of variety here, it's not just your typical speed metal but much more. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Wings Of Steel.

The Enchanted Wanderer and Other Stories
2.2. The collection I read wasn't necessarily meant to contain the best short stories, but instead represent the author as a whole. From what I got out of it Leskov had hard time expressing himself shortly, but as he got more experience he improved his style and got more subtle and on point. The later short stories are better than the earlier ones.

The Happiest Man Alive: A Biography of Henry Miller
1.2. I have tried to get into Henry Miller for a long time. Recently I tried to read a biographical book about him just to get more insight, but still I'm just not into his body of work. I think Miller was more or less a product of his time, back then extremely conservative values were mainstream and sex was more or less a tabu. That's what Miller was all about in my eyes: a man who had all kinds of sexual obsessions that made his inner creativity flourish. These days sex and themes regarding different kinds of sexualitis and obsessions are so common in popular culture this stuff just doesn't speak to me like it should. Back in the day, however, Millers books must have been a huge revelation for a generation or two.

Dostojevski - kiistaton ja kiistelty
30.1. Wonderful collection of essays on Dostoyevsky, this covers a lot of themes, characters and even milieus of his novels, plus Dostoyevsky's influence on other great thinkers. Another similar book I read was Alex Matson's "Two Masters", which was pretty much the same, but more basic take on Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky.
