Johnny Rotten went full post-punk after Sex Pistol broke up. Metal Box is in my opinion his magnum opus, a kind of album where many things are done purposefully "wrong" and the whole package just works still. The hypnotic bass is easily the best part of these songs.

The core concept of Marquee Moon is so brilliant, you'd think somebody had come up with it by the time Television were barely even a thing. Instead of playing some simple power chords these guys took all the advanced chord theory from jazz players and cut all the distortion. What they managed to create was a superb post-punk album with some brilliant songwriting and punk vibe.
