31.5. Yet another John Patitucci album and old school jazz. This time it just sounds a little bit more inspired than usual, which makes it significantly more interesting.

31.5. Classically influenced fusion jazz. Very much what Patitucci had been doing for years.

Psycho Savant
31.5. I have always enjoyed this album. It's once again hard line thrash metal with more technical approach, which I find mostly a big plus. Standard thrash tends to be boring anyway.

31.5. A very safe and marketable jazz record with some samba. That's it.

Higher Form of Killing
30.5. This is the most basic, straightforward thrash metal with attitude. I should be bored by this, but instead I love it. If you pick some lame ass subgenre, then at least make it so extreme and vicious it'll become entertaining again.

Dirty Surfaces
30.5. I'll give them props for knowing when to stop and think things through. The last album was lame and by the numbers thrash metal, so here they returned to form, so to speak. The songs are more interesting and the production is million times better here.

29.5. Nice mix of late 80's speed, power and thrash metal antics. It's just too bad that they weren't be able to rise above these subgenres and create something truly timeless and revolutionary. The ingredients were there.
