Time Tells No Lies
Song: Children of the Earth Why it is among the best? This song has been with me since my school days, I still listen to it regularly. It's timeless. The lyrics have environmental message, the chorus is super catchy and the production perfectly summarizes the best bits of British heavy metal of the early 80's. The latter half has that epic solo going back and forth with that must-have tapping part... everything about this is so memorable. I have always loved their great use of rich vocal harmonies and multiple singers. [youtube id=aX8ppfwzqwA]

Alan Moore
As a kid I didn't read any graphic novels, just some quick and easy comic books, but as I've gotten older I have really found myself enjoying and respecting the fine art of Alan Moore. At best Moore is shamelessly creative and psychedelic, his stories could vary from straight out horror to more poetic stream of consciousness. In Moore's own words, the bulk of his work was designed to push the boundaries of comic book storytelling and create something truly great and unique that couldn't and shouldn't be translated into any other media. This is also why he has denounced and speaks publicly so harshly about the Hollywood films based on his books. When Alan Moore is on the roll, he is truly one of the best and most interesting comic book writers around.

Cronos
15.3. A good little horror film by Del Toro. It's fun to watch a horror story that's actually interesting and well-written for a change and not just some mind-numbing gorefest.

14.3. I thought the guitar sounded good, but it was Pat Metheny all along. This is a great album.

Tina Turner
There is lot to be admired in Tina Turner: she was one of the greatest singers of all time, but she also was a survivor of a violent relationship and had her own share of troubles and setbacks during her youth. Back in the 80's she managed to relaunch her career and rise to the new heights of stardom in her 40's. I have heard she was also a very nice person. I adore her soulful voice.

14.3. I don't have much to say about this one. It's serviceable jazz.

The Secret Of NIMH: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Song: Flying Dreams (Sally Stevens version) Why it is among the best? It's so beautiful, even the main melody just hits straight into your heart. Jerry Goldsmith had some serious skills at expressing emotions through his music, and this is him at his cutest. Remember, he also composed one of the most sinister horror film soundtracks ever, that is The Omen. Also, forget the Paul Williams version, this is a lullaby and thus can only properly sung by a woman, just like your mother would when you were kid. [youtube id=20ZJ-gg1IQg]

13.3 The plot isn't that interesting, but the art is top notch. This was around the time the old masters were really pushing their craft to the next level.
